Do you travel a lot and still don't want to miss out on good lessons? You can only reach my teaching studio with a long drive? Would you like to hold a single lesson on a specific topic with me? Is your time too precious to put up with all the driving for your hobby? We were sentenced to house arrest once again with a new lockdown? The solution is online lessons! With me you get professional online lessons from a well-equipped studio. I use a workplace with high quality instruments and good microphones and use up to four camera angles with high quality cameras. My equipment allows me to: Analyze music videos online together with you or use them for practice. Practice sheet music with you on the screen. Study the musical text with you on the screen. To show you fingerings, hand and body posture and other subtleties of the instrument with close-ups. Show exactly what I'm playing with a top view and live view. The keys I‘m using light up so that you can follow my play closely. The requirements It is very easy to take music lessons over the Internet and setting up software and basic equipment is no longer a problem. All you need is a smartphone, tablet or computer with a microphone and webcam. You can start right away. A suitable tripod is also recommended for smartphones and tablets to optimally set up the device. Of course, the device you are using needs a stable connection to the Internet and your Internet contract must provide you with the appropriate bandwidth. Such contracts are usually offered by the providers as 50 tariffs or M tariffs. With this minimal configuration a good entry into my online offer is possible. I am currently using Skype for online classes. Which offer do you want to use? Your technical equipment is based entirely on your requirements: Casual lessons You only want to hold a session with me on the computer occasionally because you are very limited in time, the journey is too far or you cannot come to me for health reasons? Would you like to arrange an extra lesson with me? Then the minimum configuration described above is sufficient. Regular lessons High-quality smartphones and computers already achieve good transmission quality, but are usually optimized for telephony and can cause some compromises in music lessons. With regular classes, it is better to provide higher quality equipment. In any case, an external microphone is ideal, which can then be installed in a better location than the microphones built into the devices. With an additional webcam, a second camera perspective can be made available or the main device can be used purely as a screen for teaching. You don't even need a webcam for this. Smartphones and tablets, digital camcorders or good photo cameras can also be used as webcams for lessons. If you want to make the teaching quality even more demanding, there are sound interfaces, mixer software, MIDI interfaces and the appropriate devices and programs and much more. There are no upper limits for technical refinements. What else is to be mentioned? If a student has the minimum technical equipment required for online lessons, I can offer the usual quality of face-to-face teaching at any time and there are no significant differences between these two forms of teaching in this regard. Should situations arise that cannot be satisfactorily resolved in online lessons, I can compensate for this at any time with suitable tutorials or individually tailored learning videos. However, there are compromises when it comes to interaction. Unfortunately, the messenger and video services have a transmission-related time delay (latency), which makes it impossible for students and teachers to play at the same time. Although this can be reduced by using LAN instead of WLAN and special high- speed offers from some Internet providers, it still makes life difficult for us. This is also the reason why I don't offer online group lessons at the moment. In any case, I conduct at least one test session with my future customers before the start of the lesson in order to optimize their setup and configuration for our lessons. I am happy to advise and support you within the scope of my possibilities and share my experiences with you.
